Shared terms for a connected digital reward journey

Consistent definitions help teams avoid treating order events, decisions, messages, access, and card terms as interchangeable concepts.

Customer and decision terms

Eligible order: a Shopify order that meets the applicable program criteria based on the required evidence. Reward decision: the recorded outcome produced by applying the relevant policy version.

Recipient: the customer intended to receive the approved reward experience. Offer terms: the customer-facing conditions that explain qualification and material limitations.

Delivery and access terms

Digital notification: an electronic message that introduces or advances the reward journey. Recipient access: the point at which the intended customer reaches the appropriate reward interface.

Support handoff: a controlled transfer of the issue and necessary context to the responsible team without exposing unnecessary sensitive data.

Operating and measurement terms

Reconciliation: comparison of linked order, decision, delivery, access, and support records. Exception: a state that requires investigation or action outside the expected sequence.

Outcome measure: a defined customer or business result used to evaluate the program. Operational measure: a signal describing whether the journey was completed as intended.
